WELCOME TO THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE
The University of Texas at El Paso Leadership Development Institute started in August 2010 to increase the number of UTEP faculty and staff members who aspire to serve in leadership roles at UTEP and prepare them to do so effectively. Its mission is to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of full-time faculty and staff to take on leadership-related challenges and actively support UTEP’s progress towards a national research university with a 21st century demographic.
Participation in UTEP-LDI is open to all full-time faculty and staff who have completed two full years of employment at UTEP in good standing. Each final cohort is chosen by the UTEP-LDI Taskforce Selection Committee.
The Leadership Development Institute meetings generally occur on each first Friday of the month from 10am-2pm, and special events may be arranged for the LDI participants throughout the academic year. The monthly meetings focus on increasing awareness and enhancing the knowledge and skills of full-time faculty and staff to prepare them to meet leadership challenges and contribute to UTEP’s progress towards its vision and mission. Participants set specific leadership related-goals and objectives that are pursued between the monthly meetings with the help of accountability partners.
Faculty and staff members who have completed at least two years of full-time employment in good standing at UTEP may be nominated or self-nominate for participation in the Leadership Development Institute. All eligible faculty and staff members interested in pursuing leadership are encouraged to apply for the LDI. Nominations and requests for further information should be sent to Dr. Harry Meeuwsen, Associate Provost, at This email address is being protected from spambots.
